Front drum brakes on most 2CV models
From its launch in 1949 to the end of production in 1990, the 2CV saw several generations of brake systems. The majority of these included drum brakes at both front and rear.
Various references are available in this shop, each specifically adapted to the vintage of your vehicle, whether for drum brake kits, wheel cylinders or
master cylinders. Drum and brake circuit diameters may vary, with some older models also using copper seals.

The only thing that all generations of 2CV front drum brakes have in common is the brake fluid used: exclusively
Lockheed quality DOT 4 fluid, yellow in colour.
Appearance of 2CVs with front disc brakes and callipers from 1981 onwards
1981 saw the appearance of the first 2CV 6s fitted with front disc brakes. These became standard on all 2CV 6 models, with the exception of 2CV 6 specials, which were still fitted with front drum brakes. Disc brakes meant left and right front callipers (two separate 2CV callipers), as well as brake discs and pads. This page also contains a kit for renovating 2CV front calipers. LHM brake fluid and also require specific master cylinders (see
summary table).
For the majority of vehicles, 2 ranges of brake kits and accessories are available: the Classic range, which corresponds to products remanufactured in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications, and the premium 602 range, which offers products with technical characteristics and performance superior to those of the original product. For vehicles fitted with disc brakes, a third range specially dedicated to competition is also available (brake disc and specific brake pads).
