Which wheel sizes for Citroën 2CV?
Several sizes have been produced throughout the history of the legendary Citroën. At the time of its launch, the 2CV was equipped with
125 x 400mm wheels (i.e. width of the tyre x diameter of the rim) before switching to a diameter of 380mm, the exact equivalent of 15 inches. The 125 x 15 tyres, otherwise known as
125R15 or even 125/80 R15 by some (80% of 125 mm of the tyre width corresponds to the height of the sidewall) are the most common and were fitted to the majority of models, in particular all the 2CV saloon models from 1959 until 1990, the date when production of our favourite car was stopped.
The 2CV vans were equipped with wheels that were 10 mm wider, i.e. 135 mm instead of 125 mm, in order to support higher loads. Again, the wheels of the first 2CV AU vans had a rim diameter of 400 mm before they too were finally fitted with 380 mm (15 inch) rims, as for the saloon cars. The
135R15 tyres, whether called 135x380, 135/80 R15 or even 135x15, were then used on all the Citroën 2CV vans that made history. These are the same tyres that were also fitted to the models derived from the 2CV, such as the Mehari, the Dyane or the Acadiane.
What wheel torque for a 2CV?
The generally recommended wheel torque is 50 Nm if you have greased the nut thread with copper grease and 60 Nm if you have not. The ideal way to follow these measurements is to use a torque spanner to tighten the
2CV wheel.
Which tyre brands for 2CV?
True to the original, our shop offers all these models under the Michelin brand, which was the historical tyre for these cars, especially since at the time of the car's design, in the second half of the 1930s, the Citroën brand belonged to the Clermont-Ferrand based firm, which bought it in 1935 and remained the owner until 1976. In addition, we also offer you our best-selling range of tyres under our brand name Mehari Club Cassis, offering unrivalled value for money. These different models are available, individually but also in
sets of 4 or 5 units (the 5th for the spare wheel) depending on the model, or as a complete wheel including the tyre mounted on a rim with its valve. Inner tubes are also available for those who want to fit them to their cars.
What wheel accessories are available in this shop?
You will also find in this section various models of original quality rims sold by batch or individually, as well as the famous stainless steel
wheel covers that gave a specific look to the wheels of the 2CV. You will also find many small accessories such as various types of wheel bolts or nuts (long or short), jacks and cranks, valves, rim caps, nut covers, stainless steel hubcap screws with their cage nuts, Citroën logo valve caps, but also snow chains or wheel chocks... Please note that parts such as wheel cylinders and
wheel bearings are not included in this section, but in the Front or Rear Brake and Hub sections respectively.
