What are the main components of the anti-theft steering and starting system on the Mehari?
The Neiman, also known as the steering lock, plays a key role in this system. Depending on the position actuated by its ignition key (stop / ignition / start), the Neiman Méhari interacts either with the
steering column locking ring, to lock the column when the vehicle is at a standstill, or with the anti-theft contactor, to apply electrical power to the car and allow it to start or run.
Other parts make up the anti-theft and starter system for the little Citroën, such as the clamps and nuts for the Mehari steering lock, the mounting plate for the Neiman and the protective flap for the steering lock. To find out how to fit and connect all these parts, visit our dedicated
technical diagram, which lists all the part numbers concerned and shows you how to fit them.
Which Neiman anti-theft device for your Mehari?
Our online shop offers you three different models of Neiman Mehari anti-theft device: the original steering lock (ref. 1005010) manufactured in our workshops in Cassis, the original quality polished aluminium lock (ref. 1005029) and, finally, the Neiman Mehari steering lock remanufactured by our partner Burton (ref. 1005044), which offers excellent value for money. All these locks come with two ignition keys.
Note that the anti-theft ignition switch for the Mehari is a specific model that differs from that of the 2CV or the Dyane. We are the exclusive distributor of an original Mehari ignition switch, manufactured in our workshops using the brand's historic tooling. This contactor has 3 connections: the first to the
starter solenoid, the second to the positive terminal of the battery and the last to the wiring harness to ensure the power supply to the Mehari.
Please note that the anti-theft devices offered are not supplied with a 3-wire contactor for the Mehari.
What other parts are needed to start and secure your Mehari?
We also offer a key-operated starter switch (ref. 1101900) if your Mehari is not already fitted with a Neiman anti-theft steering lock. This ignition switch also comes with two ignition keys. You'll also find our 12V key-operated circuit-breaker (ref. 1101910) for disconnecting your Mehari's battery without removing the terminals. This circuit-breaker, which also acts as an anti-theft device, prevents the battery from discharging while your car is being winterised. If you don't want to have to disconnect your Mehari's
battery when it's not being used for a long time, you can order our circuit-breaker battery terminal. Very easy to install, it fits directly onto the negative terminal of the battery and allows it to be disconnected quickly.
